RAYE NEWMAN
Trigger Happy Animator

Surprised Guy

It looked so different in my head and to be honest, I'm not happy jan. It's frustrating that once the tradional animation is done, you can't just click undo or edit the timing on a graph, but it has taught me to be more mindful in the traditional process.

A very true observation Raye. Traditional animators need to know the craft inside out, thats why so many of the quotes stuck up on the walls of our studio from legedary animators focus on the importance of planning. Its a lot of work to put into something and then not get what you wanted.

Imagine how it must have been in the days before video and computer linetesting when you had to send away a film and wait days for it to be developed before you could even see a linetest. Gives you a whole new apreciation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, those guys were amazing.

With reguard to your scene, don't be too hard on yourself, it was your first ever full traditional character animation. The timing and depiction of wieght in the leap are among the best in the class :)
